The Beaches
Nigrán is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Galicia. Playa America and Playa de Patos are the most well known of this area and both have beautiful soft sand to lay back on and a variety of restaurants and cafes to enjoy.
In the summer months, the Patos beach surf school offer water sports and surfing lessons for all ages and abilities.
Restaurants & Cafes
The variety of styles, and number of restaurants and cafes in and around Nigrán means that there really is something for everyone. From high end steakhouses to moderately priced tapas bars and vegan and vegetarian friendly cafes to bakeries serving sweet pastries for breakfast.
In the summer months many beach bars open late into the evening, some with live music to enjoy and with great views of the sunset from their small terraces.
Shopping & Markets
There are a variety of large supermarkets around Nigrán, all selling local and international products. You can also find small, locally run grocery shops selling fruit and vegetables, basic household items and some have small cheese and meat counters.
Along the back of the beaches you can wander around the little souvenir shops selling knick-knacks and other beach items.
At Playa de Patos there are a number of surf shops selling everything from equipment to clothing.
Walking Trails
As well as outstanding coastline, Nigrán is home to the Mirador de Monteferro where there are a number of attractive hiking routes through pine forests with spectacular views of the Cies Islands and across the bay of Baiona.
It is possible to walk from Nigrán to Baiona, the coastal town known for the arrival of Christopher Coloumbus after discovering the ‘New World’ aboard his ship The Pinta. You will cross the Roman bridge at Ramallosa on this walk which is known as the ‘Puente Romantico’ and is an excellent place for taking some photographs of the beautiful landscape surrounding the river.
