Enjoying spectacular sea views above the village of Sant’Ambrogio, Terzetto is a most unusual villa. Architect designed, it is, in fact, a trio of cubes, one in stone and two clad in dark wood: a combination that contrasts yet harmonizes with its natural surroundings, creating an ambience that is effortlessly stylish.

Groups of friends or a family with older children will particularly appreciate the layout of Terzetto, which allows for a degree of independence and privacy: the main suite houses the kitchen/living area alongside a bedroom and shower room; Suite Two (a few steps across the lawn) contains a bedroom with shower room; and Suite Three has two bedrooms which share a shower room. Thoughtfully designed, all bedrooms enjoy the eye-catching vistas.

A fabulous summer kitchen and covered dining area is the place to congregate, offering welcome shade from the pool area and of course, the opportunity to make homemade pizzas in the wood oven.

Head downhill to Sant’Ambrogio (3km) for the nearest restaurant and supermarket as well the beach (a mix of pebbles and sand) and a dip in those tempting turquoise waters. Head east to Cefalù (9km) for a stroll around the narrow streets and squares of the medieval centre, stopping to enjoy a ‘gelato’ or ‘granita’, a crushed ice drink with a variety of flavours - delicious and refreshing!

Great Things to Do Near Terzetto

Visit Cefalù’s Cathedral

The two towers of the 12th century Romanesque Cathedral stand proud over the rooftops of Cefalù. Inside, features include elaborate mosaics and a depiction of Christ which dominates the central apse. According to legend, Roger II built the cathedral in gratitude after his fleet survived a terrible storm.

The Museo Mandralisca

This small museum in Cefalù houses a collection of artwork, furniture and precious objects, including a famous Renaissance painting entitled ‘Portrait Of An Unknown Man’.

Climb the Rocca!

La Rocca is the rocky hill behind the town. The climb to the summit takes about three hours and takes you past the 4th century BC ‘Temple of Diana’ and a ruined Norman castle.

Go to the beach

Your nearest beach is at Sant’Ambrogio, where there is a mixture of sand and shingle and a generally relaxed atmosphere. Or head to Cefalù, either the main bay, Lungomare, which is long and sandy and family friendly, or the smaller beach near the port, Caldura, which is usually a little quieter and is great for snorkelling.

Madonie National Park

This designated natural park just south of Cefalù has a varied landscape of mountains and gorges, open plain and woodland. Great for spotting wildlife, and for outdoor pursuits including walking, mountain biking, and horse riding. Also wonderful for a scenic drive, stopping off along the way at traditional towns and villages for local crafts and great home cooking.

Water park and spa

‘Acqua Verde’ is a small water park about 25 minutes’ drive from Cefalù, with a swimming pool, waterslides, a baby zone, snack bar and picnic area. There is also a spa centre here for some grown-up relaxation or beauty therapies.

Termini Imerese

This town, about halfway between Cefalù and Palermo, is known for its thermal waters. Drinking or bathing in the water is said to cure ailments including skin and respiratory conditions. Also to visit here are the 7th century cathedral and the Roman amphitheatre.

Sightseeing in Palermo

The island’s capital is a beautiful city to stroll around, with impressive architecture to admire and a vibrant atmosphere to soak up. Cathedral, Palazzo dei Normanni, Zisa castle, Pretoria fountain, and numerous churches. And a fascinating but slightly macabre visit can be made to the Capuchin catacombs under the city.

Food and drink in Palermo

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants, and great street food for a more informal option. Make a point of experiencing the vibrant colours, sounds and aromas of one of the authentic outdoor markets held in different quarters of the city.

Sicilian puppet show

Book to see a traditional Sicilian puppetry show at the Teatro Argento in Palermo, a local artform which has kept alive to the present day.

Monreale Cathedral

This cathedral a little outside of the city centre is one of nine religious and civic structures in Palermo which are collectively listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a great example of Norman architecture, with a superb interior featuring ornate cloisters & bright gold mosaics of biblical stories.

Agrigentro and Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples)

This outstanding archaeological site, listed by UNESCO, comprises a series of Greek temples, standing up to 30 metres tall, in varying states of preservation, having stood firm since the 6th century BC. There is also an archaeological museum to visit. It is about 2 hours' drive from Cefalù and well worth the journey.
