We are delighted that the stars aligned to offer us this eminently comfortable family friendly home, with its fabulous pool terrace set in enclosed lush gardens, ideally positioned to enjoy southwest Puglia’s stunning Salento coastline, with the seafront only 1.6km away.
Consisting of two self-contained units with their own facilities, as well as spacious communal areas to congregate, Villa delle Palme would lend itself well to two families or multi-generational groups. Parents can easily keep an eye on youngsters, with the larger than average swimming pool conveniently close to the house. It is encircled by a lovely wrap-around terrace, with ample space to soak up the sun, whilst an outdoor lounge and a dining area are each shaded by an attractive pergola. All this nestles in a beautifully landscaped garden, mostly laid to lawn and burgeoning with palm trees and Mediterranean planting.
Meanwhile the level of comfort inside surpasses the norm, with not one but two inviting lounge areas, and two kitchens and dining rooms providing flexibility for mixed parties. Or if outdoor cooking is more of a draw, the barbecue area is ready for action! Large glass doors throughout the house and annexe make for light interiors and a seamless indoor/outdoor feel.
Villa delle Palme is set just over a kilometre back from the shore, which is characterised by low lying rocky ledges where the crystal clear Ionian waters are perfect for snorkelling. A cluster of amenities around the iconic tower of Torre Suda (1.6km) include a minimarket, a few cafés and restaurants, tennis courts and a playground. Sandy beaches are also close by, at Mancaversa (4.5km) and the gorgeous Punta della Suina (9km) which is set in a protected natural reserve. When you’re ready for some culture and Baroque architecture, the little historic town of Ugento is only 12km away, and don’t miss Gallipoli (20km) whose maze-like old town perches on an island connected by a 17th-century bridge.
