As we looked out across an elegant tiled pool of fashionable terracotta hues and saw the nearby ocean glistening invitingly ahead, we knew in an instant that this stylish home of inspired design and calming neutral tones in the coastal village of Moledo do Minho would soon become a firm favourite with guests.

Home to some of our most sought-after properties on this scenic tract of the Costa Verde, Moledo encapsulates everything we love about this beautifully unspoiled corner of Iberia. Within its typically cobbled lanes and characterful stone buildings village life evolves at a delightfully unhurried pace; a selection of local shops and restaurants provide amenities within walking distance, and only 1.5km from the house itself, the ocean meets a shoreline of sweeping golden sands.

It is not just this enviable village location that makes Villa Fulão such an attractive choice for a holiday by the sea. Equally enticing is its imaginatively furnished interior, where light-filled rooms display a soothing décor of soft colours and elegant fittings beneath carefully crafted ceilings of reclaimed wood. Upstairs, the principal bedroom spreads across the first floor in unusually generous proportions to incorporate not only the bedroom and en suite facilities but also soft furnishings for lounging and tables for reading, all with views ahead to the sea. Downstairs, the open-plan living area opens both to the front and rear onto a picturesque garden of wide lawns, flowering shrubs and a living wall of abundant foliage and flowers.

Lazy days by the pool, a wander down to the local shop to buy bread for breakfast and evening meals in one of the village’s seafront restaurants are just some of the memories guests are likely to take away from a holiday here. Also to be remembered will be picturesque drives along the coast to the nearby waterfront villages of Caminha (5km), Villa Priaia de Ancora (4km), and inland to discover the ancient squares and riverside walks of historic Ponte de Lima, just 40 minutes away by car.
