Great Things to Do Near Can Batanc

Drive to the centre of Begur and climb up to the castle

from where there are far reaching views. The most noteworthy are those towards the Medes Islands, long ago a refuge for pirates and smugglers, although today they are famous as a marine nature reserve.

Take the ‘Cami de Ronda’ footpath

that leads from Llafranc along the coast and over the headland to Calella de Palafrugell. It is well signed and will even give you an idea of how long it takes to walk it! If you don’t want to walk back, catch the open top tourist bus which will take you up to the lighthouse from where you will enjoy breath taking views down the coast.

Stroll over to Llafranc’s seafront...

and meander along the promenade to the marina to gaze at the boats. Before heading back, stop and enjoy a leisurely drink whilst engaging in a spot of people watching.

Learn to Scuba Dive

Learn to Scuba Dive at one of the many dive centers located along the coast.

The experience of the so called ‘Dalinian Triangle’ for lovers of art and culture is a ‘must’.

The three places to visit are his home in Cadaqués (pre-booking necessary), the Teatre-Museu in Figueres and the Gala-Dalí Castle in Pubol. This will be a long day excursion but very informative and entertaining!

Visit the Museu de la Pesca in Palamos,

the only one of its kind in the Mediterranean with a permanent exhibition linked to the seafaring tradition of the Costa Brava depicting the past, present and future of fishing.

Take a day out and visit Besalú

which is the provincial capital of the Garrotxa and has some beautifully restored buildings, as well as the famous Romanesque bridge, which was built in the 12th Century but restored in 1965.

Enjoy the scenic greenway between Palamós and Palafrugell.

Follow this 6-kilometre stretch of scenic greenway, which is ideal for both walkers and bikers. Mountain bikers will love the many opportunities to deviate into the forest which hugs the spectacular coastline here. Mountain bikes can be hired and delivered to the house, enabling you to take full advantage of this stunning location.

Wander around the cobbled back streets of Palamós

and visit the numerous “Tapas” bars. Or perhaps take a tour on foot and by sea following the footsteps of the Turkish Pirate “Barbarosa” who ransacked the town of Palamós in 1543.

Take a packed lunch

and follow the coastal pathway that skirts the rugged coastline between Palamós and Platja Castell, stopping every now and then at one of the many hidden coves to swim and snorkel.

Catch the train and visit Barcelona for the day.

There is so much to see and do in this vibrant city. Take the open topped tour bus and hop on and off at the different sights. After a lunch of delicious tapas, save some energy for shopping in the elegant shops.

The Medes Islands

These Islands and their marine life, just a mile off the coast, are in a protected Marine Natural park and are one of the most important in the whole of the Mediterranean. Divers come here from all over the world, as they are considered to be such an important site.

Walk amongst all kinds of exotic Mediterranean flora at the Botanical Gardens

where you get magnificent panoramic views of the coastline that stretches from Calella to the cliffs of Cap Roig.

Visit the Sunday morning Market at Palafrugell

and soak up the atmosphere with a drink in the main square. Later visit the magnificent wine store of Jordi Grau and enjoy a glass of wine with a tapa.

Visit the spectacular Greek and Roman settlement of Empuries.

Enjoy a lunch of fresh anchovies in L'Escala, as they are a local speciality. On the way back climb up to the Castle of Montgri (Torroella de Montgri) and take in the spectacular views of both the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.

Visit the fabulous city of Girona for the day,

taking in the beautifully restored Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths, the cathedral, its museums and the many shops.

Take a stroll beneath the arched ‘Voltes’

situated along the front of Port bo beach in Calella de Palafrugell. Enjoy a drink or evening meal at one of the seafront restaurants and watch the twinkling lights of the fishing boats out in the bay and the spectacle of the brightly lit cruise ships gliding silently across the horizon.

A great day out.

Pack a pic-nic and visit nearby Banyoles, which has the largest natural lake in Catalunya. Here you can swim, fish or go on a boat trip around the lake itself.

Drive a few miles inland

and visit the many ancient stone villages that make up what is known as the “Golden Triangle”. Stop for lunch in Peratallada and then visit the fascinating farm museum in the tiny village of Palau Sator.

Can Batanc offers wonderful space both inside and outside! Great location for all amenities. We loved Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc. Had some family stay with us for a week, with our six-year-old granddaughter and they loved it so much. They want to come back to Calella next year. Lovely part of Spain to visit!!

Tom & Chris McNabola

What a great villa in a fabulous location. The sea was gorgeous and the walks were excellent.

Simpson Party

We have been coming to Calella for 20 years, but this is our first time at Can Batanc! A fabulous house in a place we love very much. We have already booked for next summer. Gorgeous house and garden in a town we already love!

The Hardy Family

Can Batanc is a beautiful villa. It has so many wonderful features inside and out. We enjoyed daily swimming and the pool house with the inflatables was extremely handy. We were very comfortable in the house, it would be hard to fault the space and the amenities for a family stay. We did not have a car and found everything we needed within walking distance. It is very handy having a supermarket across the road. It was great to be able to walk on the coastal paths too. We took a bus to Palafrugell for the market. It only takes 10 minutes on the bus. We loved eating at Tonys. We would definitely visit again.

The Chaudhuri Family

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Can Batanc. The location is superb, within walking distance of beaches and restaurants. Calau is a superb pintxo restaurant and Restaurant La Blava is also very good – close to the beach with lovely views. We've enjoyed the pool, garden and outdoor kitchen. The supermarket across the road is handy. Adiós Calella.
