What a rare find! Houses with a private pool in the picturesque fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell are few and far between and in Can Batanc we have discovered an absolute gem! In a prime location, just 450m from the picture-postcard sandy bays and atmospheric restaurants of this most coveted of coastal beauty spots, and only 600m from the neighbouring and equally sought-after bay of Llafranc, this quintessentially Mediterranean residence sits within walking distance of some of the prettiest beaches and charming restaurants that we have come across.

Beyond the golden sands and seafront promenade of Platja de Canadell a residential avenue, lined with pine trees, leads the way to the property’s entrance gates, where you will be greeted by an expansive garden of wide lawns that unfold before you to reveal an inviting private pool, a well-equipped barbecue area and a shady pergola.

Step inside the house and behind its elegant façade you will find a smart interior decorated with taste. From a large, inviting entrance hall doors open into an attracive reading room, complete with antique escritoire, before leading through to a spacious living area that conveniently accesses a covered outdoor dining terrace. Adorning the walls is an abundance of original paintings and prints, delightfully complimented by comfortable, quality furnishings that give a truly welcoming feel to this charming family home. Upstairs, via a galleried staircase that is beautifully decorated with hand painted ceramic tiles and a traditional wrought iron balustrade, a long landing leads to four well-proportioned bedrooms, two with en suite facilities and each opening to a covered terrace overlooking the pool and garden.

A sought-after property in unique surroundings, Can Batanc offers something really special. Calella de Palafrugell is perhaps one of most emblematic whitewashed fishing villages to be found along this spectacular coastline and to be able to simply wander down and enjoy its majestic beaches and fine fish restaurants is a real treat. Not to be forgotten, of course, is the equally appealing proximity of chic Llafranc which is just round the corner, jostling for your attention. Instead of using the car to get there simply take the picturesque ‘Cami de Ronda’, a coastal footpath that hugs the shoreline to provide a spectacular route to its restaurant-lined promenade and crescent-shaped beach.
