Ideally situated on the hillside between the delightful fishing village of Tamariu (670m) and the hidden beach of Cala Aigua Xelida (870m), Can Perals is the ideal choice for those seeking a comfortable property with attractive grounds that is within easy reach of all amenities and walking distance of the many secret coves that are to be found along this stunning stretch of coastline, designated as being an area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’.

Inside, the house offers traditionally furnished accommodation for large groups or perhaps two sharing families, with the bedrooms and bathrooms conveniently spread over two levels and therefore offering a comfortable degree of independence. The ample glassed-in dining gallery cleverly opens up to convert it into a semi-open air ‘al fresco’ area which, along with its adjacent brick built barbecue, will no doubt be the scene of many a spring or summer feast.

Outside, the spacious enclosed grounds have been delightfully landscaped using magnificent, natural ‘Begur’ stone walls that wind their way throughout lawned areas and colourful shrubbery. A wonderful south west facing sun terrace, complete with a wooden pergola for shade, surrounds the larger than average swimming pool.

Tamariu remains largely untouched by tourism and still retains a delightful sense of old world charm. Its seafront promenade hosts a sprinkling of excellent fish restaurants frequented by local families and visitors that come to enjoy its truly Mediterranean atmosphere.

Locality

Great Things to Do Near Can Perals

Explore the nearby hidden coves of Aigua Xelida,

famous for their crystal clear waters and wonderful opportunities for snorkelling. Take a picnic and make a day of it, perhaps trying your hand at fishing for your supper!

Drive across to the majestic bay of Llafranc

and then spend the day relaxing on this gorgeous beach. Perhaps rent a kayak or try snorkelling off the rocks at the side of the bay. Before returning home enjoy a cooling drink on the promenade and do some 'people watching.'

Drive to the centre of Begur and climb up to the castle

from where there are far reaching views. The most noteworthy are those towards the Medes Islands, long ago a refuge for pirates and smugglers, although today they are famous as a marine nature reserve.

As you wander around Begur take special note of the houses of the 'Indianos',

the design of which has been influenced by the young people of Begur who emigrated to the Americas, mainly in search of riches. Those who returned left their stamp on the architecture of the town - one such example overlooks the small car park area near the church.

Stroll down the hill and

spend the evening in Tamariu, a favourite with local fishermen, whose colourful artisan boats provide the perfect backdrop for the handful of excellent restaurants that adorn the picturesque seafront promenade.

Catch the train and visit Barcelona for the day.

There is so much to see and do in this vibrant city. Take the open topped tour bus and hop on and off at the different sights. After a lunch of delicious tapas save some energy for shopping in the elegant shops.

Take a day out and visit Besalú,

which is the provincial capital of the Garrotxa and has some beautifully restored buildings as well as the famous Romanesque bridge, which was built in the 12th Century but restored in 1965.

Visit the thermal baths and the new golf course at Caldes de Malavella.

The Balneario Vichy Catalan is just outside the town situated in pine grove or play a round of golf at the nearby prestigious PGA 18 hole course, which is easily accessible.

Go for a day trip to Figueres and visit the Teatre-Museu Dalí in Figueres

and enjoy the wacky experience, which will appeal to all members of the family. It is a lot of fun and well worth braving the queues! Afterwards, pay a visit to the lesser known Museu del Joguet de Catalunya (toy museum), also in Figueres.

Visit the fabulous city of Girona for the day

taking in the beautifully restored Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths, the cathedral, its museums and the many shops.

Visit the spectacular Greek and Roman settlement of Empuries.

Enjoy a lunch of fresh anchovies from L'Escala - a local speciality. On the way back, visit the pre-roman Iberian settlement of Ullastret and see how life was 2,500 years ago compared to today's world!

Pack a picnic and your swimming things

and take the coastal path that starts from Tamariu beach. Stop at the tiny Cala Pedrosa to swim and snorkel en route. Then follow the path upwards, cross the road and return to Tamariu via the pine woods.

The golden sandy beach of Aigua Blava

is a very short drive away. Justifiably awarded a coveted Blue Flag, this beach boasts the finest and softest sand in the immediate area. Relax in the restaurant overlooking the bay and enjoy the freshest of grilled fish, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine.

Drive a few miles inland

and visit the many ancient stone villages known as the 'Golden Triangle'. Stop for lunch in Peratallada and then visit the fascinating farm museum in the tiny village of Palau Sator.

Take a boat trip from Tamariu

and visit the famous cave 'Cova d'en Gispert'. Aferwards go snorkeling off the rocks along the side of the beach.

Take a stroll beneath the arched 'Voltes'

situated along the front of Port bo beach in Calella de Palafrugell. Enjoy a drink or evening meal at one of the seafront restaurants and watch the twinkling lights of the fishing boats out in the bay and the spectacle of the brightly lit cruise ships gliding silenty across the horizon.

Go ride a horse!

In Begur there are night excursions, carriage rides and for those who do not wish to take to horseback, Kart Cross excursions can be organised.

Play a round of golf!

There are 2 well known courses very close by in Pals, one being Golf Playa de Pals, and the other Golf Serres de Pals.

Visit the Museu de la Pesca in Palamos,

the only one of its kind in the Mediterranean with a permanent exhibition linked to the seafaring tradition of the Costa Brava depicting the past, present and future of fishing.

Shop at the Sunday morning market in Palafrugell

and enjoy a coffee in the square and 'people watch.' Then return to the house and prepare some of the delicious tapas, whose recipes are in the house book. Spend a lazy afternoon relaxing in the garden, enjoying a good book and cooling off now and again with a dip in the pool.
