Stunning mountain views, an idyllic riverside setting and stylish accommodation are to be found at this beautifully restored former mill owner’s house which enjoys a privileged location in the Grazalema Natural Park amidst one of the most picturesque areas of natural beauty to be found in Southern Spain.

Soaring limestone peaks, pastoral river valleys, lush Mediterranean woodland and abundant fauna encircle the property’s colourful grounds to form a captivating and scenic backdrop that will not fail to delight. This area has always been a favourite haunt of nature lovers, artists, climbers and walkers and it is easy to see why since from the wide lawns, smart swimming pool and delightful foliage-strewn nooks of La Pozailla’s spacious grounds you will find yourself gazing up at this picture-postcard landscape.

Along the property’s eastern boundary, the river along which the former owner’s corn mills used to operate is overlooked by a charming balcony-style patio, whilst adjoining the front of the house is a covered dining terrace which benefits from an in-built barbecue and views across the pool and the mountains ahead.

The interior is no less impressive. Within the charming original framework of thick stone walls and solid wood beams the current owners have skilfully created a home that subtly blends modern comforts with the traditional rustic ambience that so befits a property of this style. A lofty high-pitched ceiling and open-plan layout provide an immediate sense of spaciousness in the ground floor living area whilst upstairs in the bedrooms beautifully coordinated fabrics sit alongside smart furnishings of chunky wood.

Nestling into the beautiful mountain scenery just 7km from the house is the pretty ‘pueblo blanco’ of Grazalema which offers shops, restaurants and bars amidst its quaint cobbled streets. Also close to hand is the historic town of Ronda, which is just a 20 minute drive from the house.

  • *As this is an area of protected natural beauty, barbecue bans will be enforced from early June and an electric ‘plancha’ will be provided for outdoor catering.
  • The internet connection is via a satellite connection.

Pop up to Grazalema

The nearest village to La Pozailla is beautiful Grazalema, which nestles into the mountains of the stunning Sierra de Grazalema natural park. Here you will find restaurants galore, fascinating little shops, historic buildings and a traditional but thriving atmosphere.

See The Andalucían Horses Dance

Jerez is an easy drive from La Pozailla. Visit the Royal Equestrian School and see the lovely show 'How The Andalucían Horses Dance'. You can book tickets in advance, so you don't have to queue.

Stand on the stage of a Roman theatre

The remains of the Roman town of Acinipo are not far from the house. The theatre is particularly well preserved and it is an amazing experience to stand on the stage where Roman actors performed so very long ago.

Try the famous local cheese

Grazalema and the nearby village of Villaluenga del Rosario are homes of the famous artisan 'Payoyo' cheese, named after the Payoya goats from whose milk the cheese is made. Go along and sample a few varieties and choose one to enjoy at an al fresco meal on La Pozailla's lovely terrace.

Watch the birdie

The Sierra de Grazalema is a paradise for bird watchers and also for photographers. Guided 'birding' and 'wild flower' tours are available in this area and you won't want to go anywhere without your camera.
