A colourful array of flowering shrubs, shady trees and attractive plants will provide a delightfully Mediterranean welcome as you enter this smart coastal home, which sits amidst a pretty garden of lush foliage and attractive terraces just 650m from the picturesque sandy beach of Binibeca and its waterfront restaurant.

Adjoining the house on its southern façade is a covered terrace which leads the way into a fresh, contemporary-styled interior where crisp white walls and ceilings spanned with exposed wooden beams provide an ideal backdrop for neat furnishings of fashionably neutral colours. Attractive archways connect the split-level living area to the kitchen and bedrooms where the light décor and smart presentation continues.

It is, however, in the delightful outdoor area that encircles the house that much of your time will no doubt be spent. Alongside shrub-filled borders and ornate flowerbeds the thoughtfully designed terraces provide a welcome retreat for relaxation in either sun or shade, and under a covered pergola meals al fresco can be enjoyed at a table next to the in-built barbecue. It is just above here, via a few steps, that the larger than average pool sits within a sun terrace and offers the additional facility of heating for the early and late season months.

A pleasant stroll of just 400m along the residential street will bring you to the cove of Cala Torret where ladders provide access to the sea for bathing, a selection of restaurants enjoy stunning views across the water and a local shop is conveniently close to hand. Continue just a short distance from here to reach the beach of Binibeca where golden sands and a charming waterfront restaurant overlook an idyllic bay of turquoise waters.

Great Things to Do Near Alba Dorat

Do nothing

Relax around the huge swimming pool or find a shady spot in the pretty garden and lose yourself in a good book.

Binibeca beach..

is a short walk from the villa.  Have fun swimming and sunbathing during the day. Pop down in the evening too for a "sundowner" in the beach bar.  There is no better place to watch the sun go down!

Explore Sant Lluis

This is a charming little town originally founded by the French in the 18th century. Visit the windmill, which has been restored to its former condition and is now a museum open to the public, wander around the shops and stop for coffee or tapas in one of the bars or cafes.

Walk into Binibeca Vell

Binibeca Vell was designed by Antonio Sintes Mercadal to resemble a traditional fishing village. The award winning design may be artificial but the maze of narrow streets, whitewashed buildings and Moorish arches is typically Menorcan. There's a good choice of bars and restaurants here plus shops, all in the most picturesque of settings.

Fiestas

Sant Lluis celebrates its main festival in honour of its Patron Saint over the last weekend in August. Taking place over three days, following Minorcan tradition, the town's streets and squares are filled with horses, music, religious ceremonies, hustle and bustle and much merriment. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, enjoy a `pomada` or two, dance in the streets and celebrate along with the locals.

Step into the past...

...with a visit to Trepuco which is just off the road between Sant Lluis and Mao. Walk under the archways and explore the buildings that were once home to the very first Menorcans.

Make a splash

at the waterpark at Biniancolla which has slides and rides to suit the most daring members of the family, plus jacuzzis for those who wish for a more relaxing time.

Cales Coves

Cycle or drive to Cales Coves which is a large necropolis and very beautiful. Spend the day exploring the caves, swimming, snorkelling and then find a shaded spot for a picnic before heading back. Calas Covas is completely unspoilt so you will have to take everything with you, so be sure to carry plenty of water.

Go to the zoo

The Lloc de Menorca is a small, rustic but beautifully presented zoo with a variety of animals and plants to see. There are many places where it is possible to enter the pens and interact with the lemurs, goats, kangaroos and emus. There is also a picnic area, a couple of bars, and for the children, an adventure playground and wet play area (be sure to pack swimsuits and towels for the little ones)

Visit the port in Maó

and take a trip around the harbour on the glass bottomed boat. This is the second largest natural harbour in the world - Pearl Harbour is the largest. It is steeped in history, especially from the British occupation, and the boat often stops outside the harbour entrance to see the underwater life through the glass bottom.

Trotting races

The tradition of trotting races dates back almost 100 years in the Balearics and is not practised anywhere else in Spain. An afternoon at the races is a must for any lover of equestrian sports and it is very child friendly. The Maó Municipal Hippodrome, on the Maó-Sant Luis road, holds races on Saturdays from 17.30 (May to October). Grab a table, order yourself a drink and place your bets!

Hauser & Wirth

Whilst exploring the port in Maó, take a trip over the the Illa del Rei, which is a small island in the middle of the port, and visit the Hauser & Wirth art gallery.  There is also a former British naval hospital on the island, which is now a museum, to visit plus a bar and restaurant for refreshments.  Have a look here for more information: https://www.hauserwirth.com/news/34921-introducing-hauser-wirth-menorca-film/
