A stylish and airy living space is coupled with striking sea views at this contemporary villa in a residential area of Kalamar Bay within 1.5km of the charming port town of Kalkan.

Although much of your time will no doubt be spent outside, when you wish to retreat inside you will find an inviting and highly comfortable interior. All bedrooms have en suite facilities and their own private balcony or terrace. Downstairs the lounge boasts a capacious corner sofa, where everyone has a front row seat for the marvellous view over the pool to the sea. There is a seamless transition into the fully equipped kitchen, with breakfast stools around an island, as well as a full dining table, or sliding doors lead out to the dining terrace for those al fresco meals. The villa welcomes 8 guests comfortably in the main house with an extra 2 guests accommodated in the well appointed lower level studio room which is accessed externally.

Outside, extensive terracing wraps around the house and the pool, decked out with comfortable outdoor furniture and complemented by thoughtful planting of palms and shrubs. Glass panelling allows the wonderful sea views to be enjoyed whilst relaxing in and around the pool. Although the elevation of the upper floor balconies and the roof terrace provide the most jaw-dropping views, including the distinctive Mouse and Snake Islands just off the coast of Kalkan.

Set in the Kalamar Bay area of Kalkan, the villa is only a few hundred metres from the sea – the Kalamar Beach Club (500m) offers access to the sea as well as facilities including sunbeds and food. Kalkan’s old town and port are a delight to discover, retaining an authentic atmosphere, yet full of life and bustle. Water sports on offer in this area include diving and canoeing, or a traditional ‘gulet’ boat trip is a wonderful, less energetic, way to enjoy this coastline for a day.

  • Any day arrival permitted on request. Minimum 7 nights.
  • *Pool heating available £200 per week on request.

Locality

Great Things to Do Near Macera

Stepping down to Kaputas Beach

In an unspoilt, idyllic setting, Kaputas Beach, much smaller than Patara, is only accessed by 192 steps down - so make sure you can manage the climb back up at the end of the day!

Canoeing on the Xanthos river

Enjoy a fun day river canoeing on the Xanthos river. You can travel across ancient Lycian lands of lush and tranquil nature. The ride is downstream, so it's not hard going. The journey ends at Patara beach with time for a swim.

A 'must see' is the ancient site of Xanthos

It was one of the six principal cities of Lycia and due to being one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Turkey it has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Of note are the pillar tombs (unique to Lycia) and the Harpy column tomb with frieze. The 'Harpy Tomb' is so called as it was believed that the winged women figures in the frieze were harpies - monsters from Greek mythology with the head of a woman and the body of a bird.

Explore the back streets of Kalkan

Wonderful atmospheric narrow streets that house a mixture of shops, coffee bars, restaurants with traditional overhanging wooden balconies above. Enjoy having a wander around.

Mountain Trekking

Trekking in the Taurus mountains is where you will find some of the most beautiful scenery. Below the tree line and winter snow are the yayla (highland plateaus). Trek through canyons, gorges and passes - many of these gorges were important trade routes, some still in use, some completely forgotten, though all at one time jealously guarded.

For the biggest market on the Lycian coast

take the journey up to Fethiye and experience an authentic Turkish market. Produce is brought from all over the region - vegetables, spices and, of course, the 'genuine fake' designer goods. In the centre of Fethiye is the fish market, where fresh fish can be chosen from the stalls and cooked at one of the restaurants in the surrounding square - a great place for lunch. Tuesday is the main market day for Fethiye.

Visit the Lycian sites

at Myra, where you will be able to explore the spectacular Lycian, Greek and Roman ruins of this ancient city, including one of the best preserved amphitheatres and spectacular rock tombs. Entrance to St Nicholas Church is available, but as an optional cost.

Explore the Saklikent Gorge

It's the second-largest (20 km long) gorge in Europe, with spectacular scenery and 4 kms of the gorge is walkable. Outside the gorge, restaurants have wooden platforms suspended just above rushing spring waters - great places to relax on Turkish rugs and cushions with a beer. You have to cross the water - beware, it's knee deep and fast flowing. Wear swim shoes - these can be hired if you don't have any.

Visit the nearby town of Kaş

Around half an hour's drive from Kalkan, enjoy the charm of Kaş as an alternative to the more local Kalkan. A modern seaside town which occupies the site of ancient Antiphellos, some ruins are still visible today. The Lycian Way, a marked trail, passes by the town.

Ride horses through the sand dunes of Patara

There are stables within the Patara National Park that cater for riders and non-riders of all ages and ability. Due to the strict conservation laws there is not a building to be seen, which is what makes this beach so special - endless golden sands, surrounded by nature, so it's perfect for an early morning ride enjoying the beautiful scenery!

Enjoy fresh trout in the famous Islamlar restaurants

Islamlar is famous for its traditional trout fishing industry so make sure you sample the local produce only 15 minutes from Kalkan.
