A great base from which to take advantage of the array of cultural attractions of the Côte d’Azur, from the perfumeries of Grasse and the artisanal pottery and glasswork in Biot, to the many art galleries and museums which vie for attention in Cannes, Mougins, Vence, Antibes and Nice.
The great outdoors
Heading north away from the coast, it is easy to get away from the bustle and enjoy the scenery and fresh air. The area will please keen cyclists and walkers, and there are plenty of opportunities to have a go at activities such as treetop trails and horse riding or practice sports such as golf and tennis.
For the youngsters
There are several theme and adventure parks within about 20 minutes’ drive, near the coast at Villeneuve-Loubet and Antibes, perfect for a fun family day out. Older children and teens may enjoy go-karting near Chateauneuf-de-Grasse, also 20 minutes.
Gorges du Loup
Enjoy an afternoon drive following the gorge of the river Loup through pretty hilltop villages. Starting from nearby Châteauneuf de Grasse, head north to Gourdon, then continue via winding roads with great views of the gorge and the village of Courmes until you reach Bramafan. From here the road follows the river downstream between dramatic cliffs, passing the waterfalls Cascade du Saut du Loup and the Cascade de Courmes. Cross the river at Pont du Loup and return to Châteauneuf via Le Bar sur Loup.
