About Palafrugell

Today Palafrugell is a bustling market town where shops and café terraces line the streets. Traditions do, however, remain. The beautiful 19th century façade of the Centre Fraternal, (originally opened as a meeting place and tavern for “Tapers” or cork workers) stands imposingly in Palafrugell’s main square close to the daily fruit and vegetable market. Throughout spring and summer the Plaça Nova hosts regular concerts and Sardanas (the national dance of Catalunya) – well worth a visit to enjoy a glass of wine and soak up the local atmosphere.
