Amenities
Gondomar is a traditional, small Spanish town which has been relatively untouched by tourism. Visitors to this friendly town feel immersed in the local way of life and to spend a few hours strolling through the town can make a pleasant afternoon’s pastime.
Gondomar has much to offer in the way of amenities and places to enjoy a lunch or dinner. A large, well-stocked supermarket can be found on the outskirts of the town, also independent grocery shops, a bakery, and a family run take away café which sells homemade pizzas and empanadas.
Eating & Drinking
In the heart of Gondomar, you will find traditional tapas bars on almost every corner and exploring the cobbled streets between the buildings you could find some real hidden gems. A lot of places have outside seating, perfect for people watching and mingling with the locals.
Enjoying the countryside
There are numerous hiking trails and tracks to explore in the villages and hills around Gondomar. You can also follow the winding roads through the countryside passing through little villages and seeing the locals go about their day to day lives.
The Monte Aloia natural park is nearby where you will find natural waterfalls, an abundance of flora and fauna and from the summit, spectacular panoramic views.
Beaches
Though Gondomar is a town situated inland, surrounded by pretty tree covered hills, you will find some of the area’s best beaches just 15 minutes away along the coast in Nigrán.
Playa America is known as the queen of beaches in Galicia and this never-ending stretch of golden sand is the perfect place to lay back and relax while you listen to the waves. There are a number of restaurants here too for refreshments or meals.
A little further away is Patos beach, famous for surfing and the surf school here caters for all abilities. You can also hire kayaks, windsurf or even try kitesurfing!
