The Old Town

Oia is a special place, famous for its monastery, amazing sunsets, mountains, dense forest and magical petroglyphs. Located on the scenic coastal road which overlooks the dramatic rugged coastline below, the old town is a maze of cobbled streets to explore and is full of surprises as there are some great restaurants tucked away here.

Though not great in number, Oia’s restaurants offer traditional cuisine, seafood and tapas dishes and friendly, welcoming hosts. Some have large terraces overlooking the beach and monastery and from here you will witness the beautiful sunsets.

Along the coast road on which Oia sits there are numerous restaurants to discover, all serving typical Galician dishes and tapas.

Activities

Diving, cycling and walking are some of the most popular activities people who come to Oia tend to enjoy.

The hills surrounding Oia are home to numerous walking and hiking trails for all abilities and there are waterfalls and stone carvings dating back thousands of years to be discovered.

You may be lucky enough to spot wild horses which live in the hillsides around Oia, and there is also a horse-riding school nearby for those wanting to enjoy the great outdoors by horseback.
