Just a 10 minute drive from the elegant spa town of Mondariz-Balneario, amidst the picturesque countryside that makes the southern corner of Galicia such a sought-after destination, this delightful cottage and its pretty flower-filled garden instantly delighted as we were welcomed by its owner to view her much-loved rural retreat.

From its slightly elevated position on the edge of the local hamlet of Barral, panoramic views can be enjoyed from dawn to dusk from the multi-layered garden of lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds. Inside too, windows set into thick walls of typical stone perfectly frame the far-reaching vistas of rolling hills and lush woodland; just outside, mature fruit trees delight with their colourful crops of oranges.

Exuding a welcoming ambience that invites guests to feel immediately at home, country cottage-styled rooms display attractive ceilings of exposed wooden beams and a décor of attractive fabrics and comfortable furnishings. In the living room, the provision of air conditioning is a welcome feature during the warmest summer days.

If rest and relaxation are what you are looking for, the colourful garden and enticing pool area of this charming home provide an ideal setting, and yet at the same time Pedriña do Barral is conveniently located for visits to the favoured spa town of Mondariz-Balneario. Just 5.6km from the house, the elegant buildings, tree-lined streets and delightful parks of this smart centre are home to an iconic Water Palace where thermal pools, Jacuzzis, jets and waterfalls sit beneath a large crystal dome. Meandering alongside the town, the River Tea is adjoined by scenic footpaths and a sandy beach with sheltered waters for bathing, whilst for those wishing to take a dip in the ocean the seaside at Cesantes is just 40 minutes away by car.

  • Terraced grounds mean that very young children may need supervision.
