Vineyards
This little Gers village nestles in the midst of vineyards in an area particularly known for Armagnac, a fine brandy whose distinctive taste is due to distillation in oak barrels. Armagnac is also used to fortify another local tipple, an apéritif called ‘Floc de Gascogne’. Be sure to sample some of the local wines and liqueurs during your stay – look for the word ‘dégustation’ which means ‘tasting’. There is a vineyard offering tastings between Gondrin and Mouchan.
Family leisure park
A real boon for families staying in this area, Gondrin’s very own water and leisure covers more than 15,000m2 in a beautiful green setting in the heart of the village. It boasts a giant pool with several water slides, an artificial wave zone, and a paddling pool with mini-slides for little ones.
Also within the site there are facilities for playing beach volleyball, a tennis court, an air trampoline, table tennis and a playground.
Food and drink can be purchased on site or you can bring your own refreshments to enjoy at the picnic tables.
To see nearby
The Gers department is fairly small in area, but can boast several villages classed as ‘the most beautiful in France’! Three are in a cluster just north of Gondrin: the medieval bastides of Montréal, Fourcès and Larressingle.
Also in this area, you can visit the fascinating and well presented Roman remains at Eauze and the Gallo-Roman Villa of Séviac.
The main town of Condom is well worth a visit, with its attractive historic centre, impressive cathedral and a museum all about Armagnac. And not far away, l’Abbaye de Flaran, a 12th century Cistercian abbey just outside the river town of Valence-sur-Baïse. In the summer, music concerts take place here.
