Villages and towns in Meganisi

Perched on a cliffside looking out over a tranquil bay filled with yachts, boats and passing flotillas, the quaint local village of Spartohori offers visitors an authentically Greek experience. Stone-built cottages and whitewashed houses combine with vibrantly flowered balconies, window boxes and courtyards to create a wonderful atmosphere while some the island’s most mesmerising panoramic views await admiration.

Downhill, around the natural port, a number of tavernas, minimarkets and little shops can be found and both the village and harbour are well known for serving tasty seafood dishes created daily from the fresh catch in the bay.

Capturing the attention of all visitors, Katomeri is home to many stone-built cottages and vast courtyards all wonderfully colourful with plants, flowers and bright windows, doors and walls. This typically Greek village full of traditional architecture and friendly locals is the main settlement of Meganisi. However, with just 500 inhabitants it is not crowded and retains its unspoilt village charm, largely untouched by modern development. With a handful of traditional tavernas and a bakery selling many local delights, the village is the perfect location to while away the afternoon or enjoy an evening meal.
