About Marin

Beaches

Marin is home to some beautiful beaches, the main four being Aguete, Loira, Portocelo and Mogor, all boasting fine, white sands and clear waters.

There are beach bars to enjoy in the summer months, serving lunches and also tasty cocktails to sip as you enjoy the view.

The beaches of Mogor and Portocelo are joined by a pretty woodland of pine and eucalyptus trees and nice walks can be taken from one beach to the other.

Eating Out

Numerous restaurants, cafes and bars can be found around Marin whether it be tapas and traditional dishes in the town centre, freshly caught fish and seafood in the port area or enjoying lunch in the sunshine in the beach bars along the coast.

Shopping & Markets

Marin is home to an excellent choice of large supermarkets and also independent grocery shops selling basic provisions and fresh bread as well as butchers and fishmongers.

All the necessary amenities that you may need during a holiday can be found in the town centre and on the outskirts: a petrol station, banks, chemists, dentists, souvenir shops and many more.

A great way to support the local tradespeople is by shopping at the indoor produce market in the town centre (Praza de Abastos) where you can buy locally grown fruit and vegetables, fish and seafood, and fresh bread from a nearby bakery. During the summer months you can also find handicrafts and baskets made by the locals.

Explore

A variety of hiking trails, historic monuments and archaeological discoveries can be explored around Marin. Inland, the wooded hills contain numerous pretty hikes and viewpoints to enjoy and also lovely spots to sit and enjoy a picnic overlooking Marin.

The Ecopark has great activities for adults and children alike and the Parque dos Sentidos is a great play area for children with paths through the woods.
