Pontevedra City

With its picturesque medieval squares and intertwining lanes, lovely old buildings and shops, markets, cafés and tapas bars, Pontevedra is worthy of a visit for a day. It is a port city and where Christopher Columbus’s ship, the Santa Maria, was built. The squares in the old town are mostly named after the trades that took place there, such as Blacksmith’s Square, Firewood Square, Vegetable Square and Stone Quarry Square. There are many parks and green areas dotted around the city too.
