Witness the British Film Festival in Dinard, Brittany this October

Every autumn, suspense hangs over the town of Dinard in Brittany as the annual British Film Festival is held; attracting swathes of visitors to witness the drama unfold.

The British Film Festival in Dinard began in 1990 and is dedicated to recognising and celebrating British filmmaking in the popular Breton seaside resort of Dinard.

As well as throngs of British cinema fans, some of the biggest names in the UK’s film scene, including actors and directors, head to Dinard during this week-long festival. Over the years the likes of Hugh Grant, Roger Moore, Christopher Lee, Kristen Scott-Thomas, Charlotte Rampling, amongst many more, have been guests at the festival, many of whom have won awards.

The exclusive Golden Hitchcock Award

Each year six films are shortlisted for the award. A panel made up of leading figures in the film industry decides which film is to be awarded the exclusive Golden Hitchcock Award. Other awards go to the Best Screenplay, Best Film, the Audience Award and the ‘Coup de Coeur’ Award.

Set in the town’s magnificent ‘Garden City’ and various other venues around the town, the festival hosts a variety of cinematic projections, including film premieres, tributes and previews of forthcoming releases. Approximately 30 feature films and 20 short films are shown in Dinard during the British Film Festival.

The festival takes place during the first week of October each year, running for five days.
