The directors and staff at Vintage Travel are thrilled and extremely proud to have won the prestigious Telegraph Travel Award for the Best Villa Operator of 2019, as announced during a recent ceremony in London.
Vintage Travel is proud to announce that we came in the top ten of the ‘World’s Best Villa Rental Companies’ category of the highly prestigious Conde Nast Readers’ Travel Awards. The criteria for the voting is based on a number of components, including the range of villas a company has on its books, the facilities and equipment provided in the accommodation, the welcome and information pack, the services and staff, on the ground support and value for money.
Vintage Travel scored a mighty 83.28%, which put us in a highly impressive sixth place.
For more than a quarter of a century, hotels, travel companies, villa rentals, airlines and cruise ships have been competing to receive the much-esteemed seal of approval by the Conde Nast Readers’ Travel Awards. Unlike many awards which are decided by industry official and ‘experts’, with the Conde Nast Awards the real experts decide who are the winners, the travellers.
Those with a thirst for travel and who are determined to share with the world their experiences and opinions can participate in this celebrated and influential survey. So admired has the Conde Nast Readers’ Travel Awards become that in 2012, 47,000 participated in the survey, determined to give their thumbs up or thumbs down on different aspects of their travel experiences.
It has to be said that the quality of the accommodation, resorts, travel companies, cruise lines and every strand of the industry featured in the awards seems to get higher every year, with 2013 being no exception. These high-status travel industry awards comprise of a heady and diverse mix of categories. From the ‘Top Islands in the World’ award to the ‘Best Places to Ski and Stay in North America’ category, to the ‘Number 1 Cities Around the World, to ‘Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World,’ the Conde Nast Travel survey dissects the industry and enables discerning travellers to have their say.
It was however the ‘World’s Best Villa Rental Companies’ section in which Vintage Travel excelled. Offering villas to cater for every taste that have been meticulously hand-picked, each with a private pool and all in the most heavenly of locations, it is not difficult to understand why Vintage Travel ranked so high in this category.
Cleanliness, top-notch facilities, full on the ground support and great value for money accompany each and every one of our diverse selection of villas, hence why Vintage Travel scored so highly in this year’s prominent Conde Nast Readers’ Travel Awards.
As well as providing many great villas with private pools to discerning holidaymakers looking to escape the mainstream trail and diverge off the beaten track, Vintage Travel is involved with charity work. For the last three years, Vintage Travel has been supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care at the fundraising event known as the House Builder Brain Game.
This year’s event was held on May 2 at the Emirates Stadium in London with Vintage Travel donating a luxury 7-night break on the beautiful island of Mallorca. The donation managed to raise £3,600 for the charity in an auction, which was held on the night as part of the exclusive event’s proceedings.
The Emirates Stadium opened its doors to a glamorous flow of guests, which saw people from the construction industry gather on the May 2, to lock intellectual horns with each other as they competed in a star spangled quiz, where the quiz-master (or mistress) is a famous celebrity.
This year’s House Builder Brain Game attracted a number of A-lister celebrities, including Chris Tarrant, Barbara Windsor, Ainsley Harriot, Mark Clemmit and John Challis. Tony Christie performed “Is this the way to Amarillo,” which managed to fire the guests up and get everyone moving to the beat!
The guests from the construction industry pay anything from £2,000 to £3,000 for a ten-seat table on at the Marie Cure Cancer Care event and by the end of the night £119,000 had been raised, including the contribution by Vintage Travel.
Vintage Travel received a letter from the event organiser, Gemma Howell, thanking the company for its loyal support, stating that the support “was hugely valued by everyone at Marie Curie.”
Vintage Travel is the only travel company which supports Marie Curie Cancer Care and will continue to do so in the future, with high hopes that for next year’s star-studded House Builder Brain Game event, they will achieve a total donation of £10,000.

101 Holidays have launched a fabulous writing competition, giving you the chance to escape on a pampering two-night break to taste a touch of Britain.
Write a short hotel review of 140 characters or less, ‘Tweet’ it on Twitter and you could win a two-night stay for yourself and a guest in a Hotel du Vin of your choice.
This UK writing competition will also help others with every entry…
Not only will you have the chance to spend two luxurious nights in one of Britain’s most glamorous, award-winning hotel groups, with stunning properties situated in the heart some of the UK’s most historical, culturally-rewarding and picturesque cities, including Edinburgh, York and Brighton, but for every entrance, 101 Holidays will donate £1 to the Family Holiday Association.
It is a sad but true fact that more than two million children living in the UK never go to the seaside, let alone on holiday, because their parents simply cannot afford to. The Family Association is dedicated to helping children experience the sheer joy and elation of visiting the seaside and hopes to send 2,000 families on holiday this year.
To help the charity achieve its goal, and to have the chance to win a superb relaxing break in first-rate British accommodation, email a short hotel review, no more than 140 characters (about 20 words), and post it on to Twitter (with the hashtag #101comp – you must include this and the name of the hotel in your Tweet).
If you don’t have a Twitter account, simply send the review to Catherine@101holidays.co.uk
All entries will be judged by Alison Rice, the award-winning travel writer, journalist and broadcaster and Vice-Chairman of the Family Holiday Association.
You’ll have to hurry though; all entries must be received no later than 3 May 2011.

Last month, The Sunday Times revealed its top 50 cool villas. Vintage Travel are proud to report that they were featured within the list 3 times. The villas mentioned are listed below.

Vintage Travel’s 2011 portfolio has become even more idyllic and grand with two new beautiful properties added to its books. Lou Calvel in the Lot region in the south west of France and Villa Magnolia in the hills above Lake Trasimeno in Tuscany, epitomise our commitment to finding the most stunning of villas in the most picturesque of locations.
Snuggled high on the hillside above the mighty yet magnificent lake, amongst the olive groves, woodlands and wildlife, lies the striking, spacious and sensually renovated Villa Magnolia.
This four bedroom villa provides a unique blend of fresh and contemporary living with a rural and tranquil location in the beautiful Umbrian countryside.
The villa’s high ceilings, original features, arched balconies, offering magnificent views of the valley and beyond, creates a romantic, idyllic and truly stunning place to stay to experience this unique part of the world. All amenities are nearby in the quant and charming villages of Paciano and Panicate, whilst the larger town of Castiglione del Lago is 14 kilometres away, offering a greater choice of shops and restaurants.
Typical of Tuscany local history can nearly always be investigated and guests of Villa Magnolia can vary their daily activities by taking an excursion to the Castello del Leone, a spectacular 13th century fortress, which, at its pinnacle, provides a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view.

From an immensely impressive Italian retreat, to equally as stunning accommodation in the south of France, Vintage Travel is thrilled to have added Lou Calvel to its portfolio.
In a small break amidst the densely forested landscape, brimming with a diverse mix of wildlife, flowers, orchids and plants, the imposing stone walls of the beautifully renovated Lou Carvel can be seen.
Its huge pool surrounded by vast lawns, gently rippling under the southern French sun, beckons guests to take a dip, whilst the shaded terraces provide refreshing shade from the sun.
Internally, Lou Calvel possesses an equal ‘wow factor’ to its grounds and location. Heavy wooden doors swing open, inviting guests to excitedly muse over the property’s many charms, including an original fireplace, beamed ceilings, an open-tread staircase and a stone basin set into the wall.
The interior justly encapsulates the very essence of the villa’s traditional, rural and tranquil atmosphere and setting.
When guests eventually prize themselves away from Lou Calvel, they will discover the many treats and delights of the local area.
The village of Cazals, with its fine restaurants, bars and shops, is just five kilometres away, whilst the larger town of Cahors, renowned for its fabulous, full-bodied red wines, is 30 kilometres away. The region is a true rapture for cyclists, walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, eager to explore the limestone gorges, majestic chateaux and infinitive amount of natural delights the area is blessed with.
