A wine-lovers’ idyllic retreat: Welcome to La Levaille in southwest France

If you are looking for quality accommodation in the picturesque department of Gironde in southwest France, then let us introduce you to a farmhouse known as La Levaille.

Le Levaille, Gironde, France

The owners of La Levaille are British and are former clients of Vintage Travel! As they were so impressed with our service and the properties on our books, they decided to use us as their holiday rental booking company!

And we have to admit, we are very glad they did!

This quaint and characterful stone farmhouse is surrounded by pretty countryside scattered in flourishing vineyards. With high ceilings boasting chunky beams, dark wooden flooring, stone walls, ornate, baroque-style furniture, and a beautiful country-style kitchen with an impressive range oven, La Levaille possesses a truly elegant French feel.

Equally as delightful as the farmhouse’s spacious and inviting interior, is its exterior.  The property’s extensive grounds comprise of an emerald lawn, bordered with a variety of trees. A dining terrace can be accessed through French doors from the house, providing the perfect spot for al fresco wining and dining while lapping up the incredible bucolic landscape that surrounds Le Levaille in every direction. A further terrace provides shade from the sun. After a siesta in the shade guests can enjoy a game of table tennis in one of the farmhouse’s stone barns.

Leaving this utopic environment isn’t easy, but with a throng of pretty villages, towns and sights on your doorstep, this desirable region of southwest France is well worth exploring.

The small village of Landerrouat is just 2km from the house and is home to a fabulous winery where you can sample the delicious wines produced in the region, including Côte de Duras. The town of Duras is 11km from Le Levaille and, with its imposing chateau and ‘Maison des Vins’ is crying out to be visited.

Experience the beautiful bastide town of Foy-la-Grande, known for its half-timbered buildings. This medieval town lies on the banks of the Dordogne and is just 12km from Le Levaille.
