The International Festival of Photojournalism attracts more than 230,000 visitors, and draws 3,000 professional photojournalists, press agents and photography agencies to Perpignan’s atmospheric streets.

The festival first took place in Perpignan in 1989 and has been growing in success, prestige and popularity ever since. Exhibitions will take place portraying anthologies of photographers’ work reporting on many contemporary subjects such as war, the environment and religion. The exhibitions will be shown at different venues throughout the city. An interactive map on the festival’s official website shows the various locations of the exhibitions and events.

Various evening screenings will be displayed at the beautiful old Campo Santo building as well as at the Place de la Republique, one of the main squares in Perpignan. These evening screenings will take a look at photojournalism over the last year and will show chronologically the major events affecting our world during the last 12 months. Some of the footage will be familiar whilst others will be shown to the public for the first time.

Meetings will be set up around Perpignan where photojournalists can discuss their work and ambitions and meet the photographers. Freelance photographers will have the chance to show their portfolios off and mingle with other professionals and a receptive general public.
