Casa Azul, Catalunya

This chic, stylish and aesthetically-appealing villa comprises of four bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping up to seven guests. With a pretty pink-tinged façade, one can’t help but wonder how Casa Azul – Blue House – came by its name. Perhaps it has something to do with the quaint blue shutters surrounding the villa’s windows!

And that’s what is particularly appealing about Casa Azul, it combines a chic interior of contemporary works of art, a modern kitchen, clean lines and a stylish design, with a traditionally Mediterranean exterior that’s nestled amid idyllic gardens, overlooked by the pine-carpeted hillsides that this lush and upmarket coastal stretch of the Costa Brava is renowned for.

Guests staying in the three double bedrooms can soak up the wonderful natural vista Casa Azul is surrounded by on a south-facing terrace which can be reached through the bedrooms’ patio doors.

Casa Azul’s exterior makes the most of its enviable location on the sun-drenched Costa Brava. The villa’s private swimming pool will undoubtedly be a focal spot, as will the covered and open terraces, which can be wined and dined on with the help of the built-in barbecue for those delicious and memorable al-fresco meals.

At Casa Azul guests really do have the best of every world. The beautiful horseshoe bay and beach of Tamariu is less than half a kilometre from the house, which can be reached via a scenic stroll through scented pine trees and bucolic paths.

The charming fishing village of Tamariu is home to several quality seafood restaurants. The livelier inland town of Palafrugell is just a short drive from Tamariu, where you can enjoy a larger selection of restaurants, shops and a bustling Sunday market.

Anyone staying in Tamariu will want to visit the neighbouring coastal villages of Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc, which have long attracted those seeking an upmarket holiday destination that’s managed to retain its traditional charm.
