Salernes and a luxury villa in Provence – La Sieste

Salernes and La Sieste – A painstaking decision of lounging about and relaxing or getting active and exploring!

The quant and quirky village of Salernes can be described as being one of those places of Provence that has remained unchanged for centuries, seemingly void from the trail of tourism this popular region of France is home to.

Located in a verdurous valley of low lying hills, olive groves and pine forests, the focal point of this tranquil town is its pretty whitewashed 13th century chateaux. Asides its picturesque chateaux, the other feature of Salernes that may place it beyond the boundaries of its borders, is its famous little red ceramics, known locally as “tomettes”. These delightful handcrafted treasures are sold in abundance at the weekly market that takes place in the town’s square that sits beside the church.

Walking through Salernes and its surroundings and exploring the various springs, grottos and Roman bridge that sits 1.5 kilometres to the south of Salernes is a pleasure that is truly unique to this exceptionally pretty area of Provence.

Vintage Travel has always excelled in finding property located ‘off the beaten track’ and in the most interesting and quirky of locations and none more so than our newest addition to our portfolio of luxury villas in Provence.

La Sieste is a five bedroom four bedroom villa that can sleep up to ten guests and is situated just 7 kilometres from Salernes.

Having been uniquely converted from a famous tile-producing factory, the owner’s natural flair for tasteful and innovative design is evident throughout the villa’s interior and exterior.

This stylish house exudes a spacious open plan feel with rooms being refreshingly separated by arches as opposed to doors. To accommodate for the entertainment demands a party of ten guests, La Sieste has a games, bar and TV room, where guests can congregate, sample the delicious wine of the region and embark on merriments only a holiday can accomplish!

Although with an outdoor landscape as stunning as the one that surrounds this luxury villa in provence, guests could be forgiven if they wanted to rendezvous outside. With a pool and Jacuzzi inviting guests to take a dip and with a classy wooden decked terrace beckoning guests to lie back and relax, it would be easy to spend a whole holiday relaxing at La Sieste.

With exquisite restaurants nearby, quality art galleries, a pedestrianised historic centre and a breathtaking gorge and lake all within a 30 kilometre drive away, we do recommend that you spend at least part of your holiday in this particularly special part of Provence exploring the many delights that surround La Sieste!
