Three of The Sunday Times’ top 5 Spanish beaches are close to Vintage Travel villas…

On 1 February, 2015 The Sunday Times published an article on its top five Spanish beaches. We have to agree with the Sunday Times that these beaches are indeed beautiful and amongst the finest in Spain!

We also have to note that three of the beaches are accessible to many of the houses we have on our Spanish portfolio.

Praia das Rodas, Galicia

At the top of the list is Praia das Rodas in Galicia. What The Guardian – in its top ten beaches in the world – described as a “perfect crescent of soft pale sand backed by small dunes sheltering a calm lagoon of crystal-clear sea”, is situated in the Atlanticas de Galicia National Park.

The beach is open from Easter to September and requires a boat trip to reach it from Cagnas, Baiona or Vigo.

This beach, which has certainly whet the appetite of several highly-acclaimed travel writers, can be viewed across the water from several of Vintage Travel’s villas in Galicia, North West Spain.

Tamariu, Catalonia

The Sunday Times also ranks the beach at Tamariu in Catalonia as being one of the five best in Spain. This curved little bay is nestled in a beautiful inlet down the coast from the larger towns of Calella de Parafrugell and Llafranc.

Tamariu’s soft golden sand is backed by several character restaurants and bars. The Sunday Times recommends the calamari at El Palangui!

Around the corner of the beach at Tamariu lies a more isolated little bay, where you can enjoy greater seclusion surrounded by pine-clad slopes cascading into the translucent Mediterranean.

We have a number of villas close by to this traditional Catalan fishing village and its beautiful beach, such as Villa Tamariu which is just 950 metres from the sandy cove.

Bolonia, Andalusia

With steep dunes backed by dense pine forests, Roman ruins, warm tidal pools and the mighty African continent looming on the horizon, it’s not difficult to understand why Bolonia on the Costa de la Luz in Andalusia featured on the Sunday Times best Spanish beaches guide.

Bolonia Beach is well-known for being the source of the popular Spanish fish-based paste known as garum!

You can enjoy delicious fresh seafood in the popular wooden beach restaurants on Bolonia Beach.

Bolonia is just one of several incredible beaches that can be found along this beautiful stretch of Southern Spanish coastline.

This lovely beach is can be easily accessed from the characterful and traditional towns of Vejer de la Frontera and Libreros, where we also have villas available for hire.
