The French Riviera’s Gassin & The Polo Club Saint Tropez – The new polo capital of the continent! If you love the exquisite and perfectly picturesque town of St. Tropez, the chances are that you will simple adore the village of Gassin, which is snuggled right up to St. Tropez.

Perched high upon a rock, this tiny and charismatic village is just 2.5 miles from the sea. Although this unassuming town has recently been elevated to greater notoriety other than merely being St. Tropez’s neighbour as it is rapidly becoming regarded as being the polo capital of the continent.

Fourteen years ago, Corinne Schuler, a doctor from Germany who lives in Gassin, started a polo club in the French Riviera village. What started as a hobby soon evolved into a successful club and quickly materialised as an impressive polo club, with two championship playing fields, a quality clubhouse with a restaurant and a boutique.

The polo club became known as the Polo Club Saint Tropez and soon attracted hundreds of polo teams from throughout France, Europe and beyond and became one of the most active and highly-acclaimed polo clubs in Europe.

The club never fails to attract a prestigious and elite crowd including many celebrity figures such as Tommy Lee Jones, Queen Silvia of Sweden and Claudia Cardinale.

Plans to make Polo Club Saint Tropez into one of the biggest in the world by 2014 are well underway and include a 250 million Euro renovation to expand the club so that it can accommodate to new courses for four more tournaments a year. The expansion will include the installation of another 350 stables to accommodate more than 1,500 horses.

The polo players and fans visiting the Polo Club Saint Tropez will also be able to enjoy an even more prestigious site, with the inclusion of four-star apartments, a spa, tennis school, swimming pool, a polo school and a covered arena – oh and did we forget to mention a Michelin-starred Italian restaurant?
